WERIT shows its true colours

INTERPACK follow-up

This year's Interpack, the world's leading trade fair for the packaging industry, was held between 12 May and 18 May in Dusseldorf and was deemed to be a real success by the event hosts with more than 2,700 exhibitors from 60 nations. The same message was repeated by the management of WERIT Kunststoffwerke W. Schneider GmbH & Co. KG as regards the company's presence at the trade fair. In addition to presenting a number of unique innovations, the Altenkirchen-based company's trade fair stand, which saw a great deal of interest throughout, brought a real splash of colour to the trade fair.

Andy Warhol would have been pleased with WERIT's trade fair stand this year. It was more of a  pop art vernissage than your average trade fair stand. Completely in white and designed in an open manner, the unusual stand was immersed in an electronically timed display of colours that made the visitors curious. The striking colour scheme was fully in line with WERIT's trade fair motto for this year; "colour". Here, the company presented the WERIT IMAGELine products as an opportunity to use the inner containers of the intermediate bulk containers (IBC) as an attention-grabbing advertising space as well. "This year, we wanted to set ourselves apart visually from our competitors and present ourselves as the open, future-oriented and innovative company that we believe we are", explained Managing Director, Jörg Schneider.

IBCs as a marketing tool
This is where WERIT undoubtedly succeeded. Not only was the stand itself really inviting, the IBC prototypes in different colours displayed there were also real eye-catchers, as was the body painting motif designed especially for the trade fair for WERIT's IMAGEline campaign, which underlined the possibilities and effects of branded industrial packaging in a symbolic manner. Indeed, WERIT's IMAGEline concept now offers its customers a variety of ways of using IBCs as a marketing tool as well: with up to four-colour printing combined with your corporate logo and/or a different motif, as well as a durable, single colour print-out of your corporate logo or on the corresponding filling medium in a variety of colours. Furthermore, the complete inner container can be made in the respective corporate colour or in a signal colour.

WERIT's frame construction makes anything possible

The latest IMAGELine version, namely the multi-coloured photorealistic full printing of an inner container was presented for the first time to a diverse audience at Interpack. This was a great success too, as confirmed by Sales Manager, Jürgen Heep. "This offer is completely new in the market and has been really well received. We have received a lot of enquiries about it. Jörg Schneider also points out the fact "that our special IBC frame construction provides a number of a additional benefits." While conventional lattice structures hardly allow any free space on the inner container, the open design of the steel tube frame actually invites this. A number of WERIT customers are already making use of this branded industrial packaging option and are very happy with it.

IBC whets your appetite
Two of the four IBC prototypes displayed actually showed what options were available by having photo printing in the inner container; e.g. they also provided a visualisation of the content of an IBC. One of the two containers had been covered in a life-like tiger print – behind WERIT's "escape-proof" steel tube frame – and was spontaneously associated with oil or petrol. As part of a design competition commissioned by WERIT, an employee working for a company in the food industry created an IBC which was covered in aesthetically pleasing images of different ice cream varieties and beverages, something which really helped to whet your appetite for the products displayed. In fact, it was so convincing that the Design Award was awarded to the creator of this exhibit; Florian Keysser, who was awarded first prize at WERIT's trade fair stand, also won an iPad too.

The new ball valve
The newly developed ball valve presented for the first time is another highlight of WERIT that is the focal point of interest. The innovation finally "combines the benefits of a butterfly valve with those of a ball valve", stated the Managing Director of WERIT. Simply designed and more cost-effective than conventional ball, it had already shown much faster flow rates during test, particularly for high-viscosity materials. The new ball valve is a further development of WERIT's proven piston valve. Where the mechanism for opening and closing the piston valve and the closing plate saw a slight disturbance of the liquids when emptying the container, the new development now provides a barrier-free opening to the IBC inner container.

A successful trade fair appearance
WERIT has also got some new products to offer as regards its range of storage and shipping containers. It became clear that the range of containers had become much more varied in terms of colour and size as well, and that there were many new detailed features as well  –  such as the new DSBN stack and nest containers, which are now available in all sizes. Against the backdrop of the various innovations presented in Dusseldorf, this is indeed obvious, as Jürgen Heep summarises: "We had a crazy amount to do on the stand. Of course, all of our new developments were the focal point of interest. So I guess from my perspective it was a very successful trade fair." This is a view that Jörg Schneider also shares: "We tried to use our appearance at the trade fair to emphasise the fact that we are focused on innovating products and are a very dynamic company. I think we managed to get this point across well."
