Multi Skilled Engineer

WERIT Kunststoffwerke with its headquarters in Germany stands for over 65 years of know-how in the area of innovative, durable, and recyclable plastic products. At WERIT UK’s production site in Manchester we produce, assemble and sell WERIT’s range of IBCs, canisters, plastic pallets and industrial tanks. The Manchester site which is based in Irlam is currently searching for PART-TIME MULTI SKILLED ENGINEER (electrically interested) to fit well into the motivated existing team.

Experience of working in a blow-moulding environment would be an advantage although not compulsory as training will be given. The right candidate must be able to work independently and has to push new concepts and existing improvements forward; in this function he directly reports to the production manager.


Key Responsibilities / Challenges: 

  • Assisting in the general running of the production.
  • Building partnerships with selected suppliers to ensure fast-track innovation.
  • Communicating effectively with production personnel to ensure efficient daily running of production machines.
  • Communicating technical ideas / problems to non-technical personnel.
  • Organising development projects within budget and time schedule to provide new packaging options and processes contributing to the profitability of company.
  • Carrying out value engineering on existing products in order to improve the quality-cost ratio.
  • Assisting in the transfer of new products and processes into production
  • Working closely with production manager to ensure production machinery is available and performing above targets through practical proactive efficiency improvements and maintenance.
  • Carrying out product / mould variant changeovers when necessary.
  • Maintaining suitable records of projects and maintenance activities.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance. 


Qualification needed:

  • Preferably a time-served craft engineer educated to HNC/HND level with experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Able to think on their feet and often solve -complex engineering issues with hands-on mentality
  • Capable to lead small teams when required.
  • A solid working knowledge of automated processes and workshop practices.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of polymer processing techniques.
  • Able to to manage small projects or sub-elements of larger projects
  • A positive attitude with the ability to get the job done.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary range very competitive


Holidays 25 days per year, pro-rata based on the working hours plus bank holidays.
